Hodonin
Hodonin was first mentioned in 1046. In 1228 it received the city status. In 1850s Tomas G. Masaryk was born here, Czechoslovakia's first president, of whom his summer residence reminds.
The Hodonin Resort, opened in 1979, is still very young by the Czech standards. Its mineral water allows to successfully treat patients with severe bone injuries, people with disabilities in the musculoskeletal system, the problems of the circulatory system and blood pressure.
It is worth noting that not every resort has its own mineral springs. Hodonin is unique in the fact that it is independent. All that is necessary for treatment is given by nature. The Hodonin iodine-bromine water is of high iodine salts content and low salinity. This unique combination makes the water one of the highest quality in Europe.
But the city is famous not only for medical treatment. Tourists and holiday-spenders get never bored in Hodonin. Around the city there are numerous tourist trails and bike paths. For lovers of active way of life the city offers billiards and bowling, ice stadium, sports grounds and sports hall, indoor and outdoor pools, paintball and squash.
And those who are interested in history can see:
-
The Hodonin Jewish cemetery: it is assumed that this cemetery was opened in 1620
-
Mikulcice: remains of the ancient settlement of Slavs of the 7th century, which in the 9th century became one of the most important cities of the Great Moravian Empire;
-
Petrov-Plze: a preserved historic village with wine cellars, stretching into the interior of a hillside, unpretentious and, simultaneously, colorful rustic cottages with blue and white facades.
